The Crystal Guardians – chapter 3
So now I find myself and Chester flying through millions of stars, planets and other spaceships? “That was a spaceship did you see that Chester? How is it that I can breath in space, where are we going, how long is it going to take us?” Skullerina states. With that Leo (who was ahead of us) slows down long enough to let us know, “We are on our way to BarDuck my home planet. There we will meet the Queen and learn of the cousin’s new mission.” Leo states
With that being said we all land with a thump. “Wow that hurt, how come we couldn’t land on marshmallow, they are soft and yummy at the same time! Yum marshmallow!” says Skullerina
“Get off!” Skullerina looks around
“Who said that?” asks Skullerina.
“I said get off!”
“I am sorry I did not see you” Skullerina said.
There under Skullerina’s tummy is a cute little elephant.
Leo states “Hello Petunia! nice to see you!”
“Guardians and friends let me introduce you to
Petunia the Petite Periwinkle Pachyderm,
she is duchess to Queen.”
“Welcome home Leo, and so nice to meet you all, but we are late the Queen is waiting.” Petunia waved her trunk and a mirror appeared and she walked through it, as did we all. Now we find ourselves in the castle of the Queen.
The Crystal Guardians – chapter 2
So now the cousins are just laying there on the ground staring up at us.
Frozen like statues – but Leo to the rescue walks across the cousins on the tummies and
starts saying “Snow Special Snow I call upon you to wake up these guardians”
And there right before my eyes (my little cow eyes) it begins to snow inside the barn right on the cousins’ faces and only there.
Nothing like this has ever happened its very strange to see snow that lands only on faces and inside the barn?
Leo is quite the wizard. Yet before long the cousins are starting to blink and then,
Cole was the first to ask “Am I dreaming or is this really happening?”
And with that the Leo scurried up on his chest looked him straight in the eye
“Oh this is very real!” he stated and then fanned his beard.
“Now we must get going we are so very late” Leo states
“Late for what,” the cousins ask in unison.
“Late for your introduction to the Queen of Barduck of course” states Leo
“Well Hugu, take care of things here I will be back with them very shortly,”
With that Leo flicks his magic tail and a beautiful silk rug appears with a scene from a place
not of earth for in the sky hung two moons of pink and the hills all shimmer in tones of purple
with little silver flowers all over.” “Its beautiful” states Natalie
Kellen says “That can’t be real, or is it?” as he leans down to touch it his whole hand disappears
and he pulls back his hand and states to Leo “What? How did that happen?”
Leo looks at him very closely and says, “I see I have some work with you,
come on we must not keep the Queen waiting.” And with that Leo walks right onto the rug and disappears,
the cousins look at each other and then slowly one by one step onto the rug and poof they disappear too.
I know of magic and potions and all sorts of strange and wonderful things but even this has me baffled
then out pops Leo’s head he looks at me and Chester and states “Are you coming or not?”
I look to Hugu and he says “GO have some fun.” Chester climbs up and in between my ears
and I too (being a brave little cow) step onto the rug and poof we are gone…

The Crystal Guardians – Chapter 1
Hugu is walking to the barn with the cousins
who are the cousins – they are three kids from
town that ride their bikes out to help on the ranch
Cole, Natalie and Kellen have been helping the Buttercups
Since they were 7 now all turning 13 it seems like only
yesterday since they first appeared at the front gate.
Hugu knows from the great wizard lizard that these are the next crystal guardians so he and Violet have been careful as to not scare them before they know the grand secret.
So with bucket in hand to feed us, out here in the barn, yep I love it when the cousins come to see us I not only get extra feed but Natalie usually hides an apple
in her pocket for me
and a wee strawberry
for Chester,
we are very loved by the cousins.
Today though, just as they come by my stall the wizard lizard Leo
appears flying in on Jolly Roger
(that is his magical parrot who’s favorite thing to say is “BLOW ME DOWN”)
Hugu knows this is the day that the cousins will learn of the magic crystals,
and how they are to be the next crystal guardians.
And I little Skullerina am here to see them presented with their crystals
I am so excited, “But what if they refuse?” I asked the wizard, “Has that ever happened?”
He states in his grand deep voice “That my dear Skullerina has never happened in over 5,000 years.”
“Good Morning Hugu and hello dear cousins” states the Wizard Lizard
“Good Morning Leo, so good to see you.” says Hugu
“Children may I introduce you to Leo the Wizard Lizard, he is here to present you with something very important. Right Leo.”
“Yes my dear children, I am the as Hugu states, I am a wizard, and I am the few in this world that know of another world that you have yet to see. But today we will start with the basics.
Today I am to bestow upon you these.” Leo holds up 3 crystals one blue, one purple, and one red on fine silver chains.
“You my dear cousins are the next Crystal Guardians, and as a Crystal Guardian you will have some really special work to do for us back on my home world of Barduck, and also help your planet Earth too. For each of your crystals holds a whole pure magic – that only you will be able to control. Each magic is different – and when used together they can do great things.
But if the crystal should fall in to the wrong hands well then strange things might start happening.
So you have to be careful and wise and never let the crystal from your possession.”
The cousins just stare in disbelief – “what, who, why us?” they all said at once.
“HUGU do you see that LIZARD and that he just flew in on a parrot,” states Kellen “BLOW ME DOWN” Says Jolly Roger
“Never mind that I just heard Skullerina say,” ““But what if they refuse?” and, “Has that ever happened?”” Natalie states. “When did I learn to speak cow???”
“But guys did you hear We are the next Crystal Guardians,” Cole shouted
They all turn to each other and their eyes grow big and they start talking all at once. No one could hear anything they were saying or who was saying what.
“SILENCE!” bellows Leo “We will never make it back in time if you don’t listen!”
A hush fell over the barn even Chester and I stood very very still, then “BLOW ME DOWN” comes from the bird
“BLOW US ALL DOWN!” state the cousins at once, and promptly fall over backwards.

Polka Dot Ranch – Thursday – 39 days after Christmas
So when we last left Hugu he was listening to Violet singing to the flowers, that was late this fall before the snow flew
Today we find him after having enjoyed Christmas dinner and New Years famous ball drop with family and friends.
Ready to get back to everyday jobs on the ranch,
why just last week
he had to fix the leak
so he could fill the stock tank
where the animals came and drank
the night before Christmas was quiet in the barn
not a creature was stirring not even a mouse
well in this barn the mouse does stir quite often
what do you mean what mouse
have I not told you of the mouse
the great mouse that came to stay
and even get the cats to lay
down when he speaks
with his little squeak, squeak, squeak
he is quite smashing
and handsome and dashing
and loves to hoard things
all kinds of trinkets and strings
tucking them in his hidey hole
one time I even saw a miniature scroll.
Who is this mouse that I speak of
why its none other than Chester T Love
the third, he flew in on a dove.
There he was standing so tall
right next to Skullerina’s stall.
I knew right away that he was smart
as he was eating a little tart.
He saw me coming and never ran away
he just stood there plain as day
with his cute little vest
across his furry chest
and a fadora with a feather
covered his head in all weather.
As you can plainly see
he is as cute as a bee’s knee.
So now I must be on my way
we will chat another day.
Polka Dot Ranch Day 8…beautiful blooms
Hugu was on his way again to the barn when he heard a lovely sound
It was his lovely wife Violet singing to her flowers,
butterflies,
and hummingbirds,
They all loved Violet and enjoyed when she came to see them,
the flowers gave their best blooms to make her smile
Some flowers bloom just a day, and some for a whole week, but Violet knows each and every one of them are special and unique. Hugu shakes his head still in disbelief as he watched his wife sing another flower to bloom but then Violet herself is quite special for who among us can make a flower bloom by just singing to it. Hugu knows his Violet is very special and one of a kind…but that is a story for another time.
Just as we humans are different and unique we are suppose to love all who enter into our lives, no matter how long we have them. We are blessed to know so many cancer warriors and valiant angels. So the next time you have a moment to brighten the day for a child battling cancer (or anything) DO IT! MAKE THEM SMILE AND FEEL LOVED even if its just a blink of an eye.
Polka Dot Ranch…Day 7 – and the strange noise
Hugu was headed to the barn that fine day in spring when he heard the strangest thing…..
then nothing.
Then more….
.
By this time Hugu was headed for the pond as that is where the noise sounded like it was coming from.
Then even more…
As Hugu rounded the corner by the gate he heard it again
wait a minute that was not right something was off about that noise,
as Hugu neared the dam by the pond it sounded once again and this time it was
and then cheering…wait cheering?
Then a smile started across Hugu face as he saw the beaver family.
Mama and Papa Beaver and the triplets were standing near the dam,
tails loaded with mud
Then he heard it again only this time he saw it too.
Now the noise made sense,
The thump was Papa beaver teaching his little ones how to sling mud and his always landed with a 
The kids on the other hand were not as strong and therefore some went
while others went
Hugu paused and bent over to ask “Are you learning how to repair the dam,”
the beavers dancing around Hugu said “Yes we are, so we can keep the fish in for you Hugu!”
Hugu said “Thank you, I love to fish down by you all here at Puppy Pond”
“Well I am off to pitch some hay for Skullerina see you later.”
“BYE BYE Hugu see you later, and say Hi to Skullerina from us!” shouted the triplets.
